NATIONAL SECURITY

Upholding National Security

The American Legion believes national security must be maintained to fulfill the mandate for a strong national defense. In alignment with the Preamble's declaration, "FOR GOD AND COUNTRY WE ASSOCIATE OURSELVES TOGETHER FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES," our mission is clear: to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and to safeguard and transmit the principles of justice, freedom, and democracy to posterity.

Our Veterans' Dedication:

At the heart of the American Legion is an organization of veterans who have valiantly fought for the freedoms we hold dear. Dedicated to the preservation of these hard-earned liberties, national security is ingrained as one of the Four Pillars upon which the Legion was founded.

Pillars of Strength:

The Legion's belief in upholding national security is a testament to its commitment to the following key principles:

  1. Well-Funded Department of Defense: Advocating for a well-funded Department of Defense, we recognize the importance of robust resources to ensure a strong national defense.
  2. Quality of Life for Troops: We champion initiatives that prioritize a high quality of life for our troops, acknowledging that their well-being is integral to our nation's strength.
  3. Sensible Transition between Service and Separation: Emphasizing a sensible and supportive transition process for veterans, we strive to facilitate a smooth integration into civilian life after their dedicated service.
